AuthorHouse UK Author Joseph JP Lawlor was born in Birmingham in April of the year 1963, he was the product of Irish immigrant parents, the last person one would expect to pen a manuscript, but instilled within him from his early days was a love for the written word.Taken back to Ireland to the City of Cork at a young age, he lived there being raised by his Grandmother and was educated at Churchfield School until he left at the age of fifteen to start work. Further education was pleaded for by his schoolteachers but the pressing financial situation found precedence, and so the young Joseph Lawlor entered into the world of work.
Later he emigrated to England and settled, working at first and then set up in business, some years later he went on to study arts and humanities and then law. In the late eighties he had by then married and had his first daughter Kaine, unfortunately she though, at the age of eighteen months sadly died from a meningitis related problem, this is her story. The opening paragraphs of the book written by her father say it all. riveting and compelling the author takes you on a journey only he alone is qualified to do, his sense of passion and humour never fail in this deeply moving account of love and triumph over adversity, written with a delicate balance of emotion that captivates the reader between tears and smiles, the author proves that this is a story that had to be told. Overall the book shows the deep love a father had for his child, and no matter how much time has passed shows he never could forget.
Overview
Thief of Hearts is a book that has been a long time in the making, the opening lines were first penned in 2001, but due to the emotional content the author felt he couldn't complete the story. in 2009 he sat down and did just that. six months of writing unveils a story that is simply breathtaking!
In the late nineties it was revealed almost matter of factly by an expert medical witness in the Bristol Royal Infirmiry enquiry that the NHS were harvesting vast amounts of childrens hearts and other organs for research without permission. this is Kaine's story, she was a victim of this practice, written by her father this compelling story of love and tenderness will once and for all show the indominitable sturdyness of the human spirit will triumph over anything!

Spread Your Wings | AuthorHouse UK
AuthorHouse UK Author Carol Ann Grant was born and raised in Coventry, England. She has a secretarial degree and worked in the clerical industry for many years until she gave this up to care for her ageing mother. When she was divorced some years ago with three daughters to raise she put pen to paper to fill in the hours after her children went to bed. Although Spread Your Wings is not the first novel that she has completed it is the one she felt would catch the imagination of the reader. To take them away to a far off world where fantasy can become reality when the pages are turned. There are no faeries like this anywhere else.
Overview
When strange dreams of a beautiful woman disturbed his sleep night after night and severe pain caused Aaron Summer to be whisked off to hospital, the last thing he expected was the appearance of his dream beside his hospital bed. The touch of her hand caused a jolt of static to run the length of his arm before he snatched his hand away. ‘You’ was all he could think to say. Her name was Aurora and she had the nerve to calmly inform him that the pain he was experiencing was quite natural and caused by his wings trying to break through and that he is, in fact, a Faerie. She had answered the call of his heart, his heritage. His heart song, so filled with longing that it transcended both time and space to bring her here, to find this lost soul, and assist with his Opening. ‘I am your destiny, open or die’. Sometimes you have a feeling. Sometimes you just know.

Beyond the Distant Clouds | AuthorHouse UK
Ngozi Omolaiye has over ten years’ experience in corporate communications in the local authority, insurance, telecom, and aviation sectors. She edited company magazines and newsletters for a greater part of her career. Beyond the Distant Clouds is her first novel—the first book in her series In Your Sokoto. She lives in Essex, United Kingdom, with her husband and daughter.
Overview
Shirley was the ideal wife—every man’s dream, her husband’s heartbeat and lifeline. Her beauty was combined with brains; she loved people, and her humility disarmed everyone, but she began jetting off on frequent holiday sprees, causing instability in her home. Donald couldn’t handle it, what with challenges in the office. His office had several blocks of oil, both onshore and offshore, which they had been drilling for months with no streak of hope in sight. Tife once had a perfect kin-like relationship with Donald. He was like an uncle to her; he had been her late brother’s best friend. Then one day, it all changed, and her world turned upside down. Their relationship was marred, and then a tragic occurrence further threatened to destroy their affinity. In Your Sokoto series Solutions to life’s challenges are all around us and within our reach (sokoto is a Yoruba word for “trouser”), but we go searching for them in distant places, thereby complicating our lives. An old Yoruba (a tribe in West Africa) adage says “What you go looking for in Sokoto is in your sokoto.” Sokoto is a town in northern Nigeria about 760 kilometres from Lagos, the former capital of Nigeria. The Yorubas live in the western part of the country, hence “going to Sokoto” is like going to the ends of the earth. In Your Sokoto is a series of books about relationships with the same theme but different stories and characters. At the end of each book, you will discover that the answers that seemed so far away lie within your heart or just within reach, and things you thought were really complex are not half as complicated as they seemed.

AWAY DAY
During the summer holidays, Adam and Steve decided to travel to Chelsea’s second division away fixture at Millwall. Although they weren’t sure exactly why they did. The match was a London derby of the less appetising sort. A friendly it most definitely was not, and you could be sure that the local New Cross constabulary would have a little flutter in their tummies come Saturday - that’s if they hadn’t gone on holiday, or taken sick leave at short notice. Millwall versus Chelsea was known as a ‘ding-dong’ derby. Millwall fists would probably be the ‘ding’ and Chelsea heads would probably be the ‘dong’.
The train journey was endless, changing from this line then changing to that. The boys were most definitely in a different part of town - there was no welcoming committee and New Cross Gate station seemed as if it had been refused council refurbishing grants since the Industrial Revolution. A steam train was expected at any moment. There was then a long walk to the ground partly because they got lost and it wasn’t long before Adam and Steve found themselves behind schedule.
They were trying to keep a low profile, but being only just thirteen (Steve was only a year older) they didn’t quite understand the meaning of the word subtlety. They both wore nylon Chelsea scarves tied around their wrists and Steve had brought his lucky Chelsea jacket covered in badges, of the large sew on variety, for good measure. Fortunately, both teams played in blue and white so at a hundred yards distance it would not be completely obvious they were ‘Blues’ supporters.
Not only did both clubs share blue and white colours, they also shared the same animal on the crest of their shirts. The Lion. Millwall called themselves, ‘The Lions’ and their ground, ‘The Den’ in Cold Blow Lane, continued the theme. I suppose you could say that Adam and Steve were just another two ignorant visitors coming to be fed to them.
Millwall’s ground looked similar to the Shed End at Chelsea, only this time it was all the way round. If it was a food it would most likely resemble a bowl of concrete. Terraces on three sides. Rickety fences. A small side stand of seats for the more retiring supporters. They even had mounds of rubble outside for ammunition and old railway tracks, tunnels and breakers yards littered the barren dockland terrain, probably to hasten a quick getaway. Adam and Steve were a little bit concerned. Nothing of this was mentioned in the brochures. To their dismay, it seemed as if only one member of the local constabulary had bothered to turn up on his bicycle and he was an old extra from Z Cars.

The thunder cracked, tagged by a loud rumble, it rolled directly above their heads, followed by a bright flash. “Look there it is again. Did you see that?” Rosie stood mesmerized. “Yes. They look like those scary aliens that Borealis was telling us about. Watch out they’re coming from all directions,” the youth bellowed as he lunged forward to grab Rosie’s arm and pull her to the ground, but he was too late. The alien Queen had Rosie tightly grasped within her tresses. The green giant’s warm, ripe breath, upon his face made him woozy. He knew now where the stench was coming from. Brooke held on to Rosie firmly by the ankles. A green, leathery claw forcefully seized his wrist lifting him from the ground. Instantly the weavers formed a large hand and ripped Brooke from the creature’s grip but it was too late for the girl, she had been snatched. “HELP, SOMEBODY HELP ME.” cried Rosie but her calls were suffocated by the howling wind, and a blood curdling screech of victory that came from the alien Monarch. The invading party disappeared into an electric, whirling mist.

His first intro to fantasy fiction came with Rudyard Kipling and the Jungle Book. He spent his early life reading copiously in all genres and subjects, but came to understand that sci-fi is a master genre, in which all lesser genres can be subsumed. Any genre from romance to political allegory to epic adventure can be set on another planet, in another time or another reality, and acquire extra dimensions of meaning and power.

AuthorHouse UK Author Frances Hart, "The Girl on the Balcony" is the author's debut novel and has been influenced by her fascination with literature throughout her career as an English teacher. Married with two adult daughters, she lives in south east England. Two of the secondary characters will feature in her next novel.
Overview: Love at first sight does not exist. Or so Matt Steele thinks, until he sees the girl on the balcony at the London premiere of his latest movie. Desperate to get to know her without his fame getting in the way, the Hollywood star assumes the name of the character he is due to play in a forthcoming movie. In this guise, he meets teacher Laura Marshall and they fall in love. It seems Matt's plan has worked. But Laura believes she is in love with an out of work actor called Jonathan Mann. What will happen when she discovers their love is based on a lie? More crucially, how will their fledgling romance survive when Matt has to return to the States without her? Especially when, through acombination of misfortune, misunderstanding and the malice of a distinctly fishy character, it seems as though the parting will be permanent. The narrative switches between London and the States as the protagonists learn from their mistakes. Was their love just a holiday romance or does it mean so much more? Free Preview

"Do we know who rang us."
"No sir but someone was shot near the bank he may know something."
"Right get a constable to stay at the hospital till he comes round and keep me informed on his condition."
"Right sir."
"If we ever find the man that rang us sergeant I would like to put him up for a 'Bravery Award'."
Meanwhile at the hospital, Dean's in a bad way, he's in a coma, the constable says to the nurse, "Did he have any identification on him nurse?"
"Yes his name is Dean Paxton constable and he keeps shouting out the name Emma."
"Thank you."
He gets on his radio to report to his sergeant, "The mans in a coma and they can't give him a time if any that he will pull out of it, his name is Dean Paxton, serge, that's all they know at the moment."
"OK constable you stay there and let me know if you find out more, see if he had a mobile on him, that'll give us contacts, he must have relatives or a wife."
"Oh serge. The nurse said he keeps calling out for Emma."
"OK see if you can find out more about this Emma, if he's calling for her he must have something on him to give us some idea who she is. A photo, or phone number on his mobile if he has one."
The constable goes back into the room and says to the nurse.
"You didn't happen to find a mobile on him did you?"
"I don't know I'll find out for you constable."
She came back a few minutes later.
"Yes he did have a mobile."
And hands it to the constable.
"That's great nurse maybe we can find out more about him now."
As the constable is checking for numbers on Dean's phone, Dean shouts out for Emma! He made the constable jump out of his skin.
"Maybe that's his wife? I'll look for Emma on his phone."
"Maybe! Constable, but he doesn't have a ring on his finger though."
"I better get on to my serge and let him know we have his mobile."
He steps out of the room an gets on his radio.
"Hey serge we have his mobile and there's an Emma on it, he keeps calling for her shall I call the number!"
"No I'll come and get it and ring her myself!"
The sergeant gets to the hospital and asks the constable.
"Where's the mobile constable?."
"Oh hi serge, it's in the room I'll get it for you."
They both walk into the room, Dean shouts out Emma's name again and makes the sergeant jump.
"You get use to that serge." and hands him the mobile.
"Right carry on constable I'll give Emma a ring."
"Hello! Emma speaking."
"Hello this is sergeant West from the 'Elm lane' police station, your numbers on Dean Paxton's mobile we were wondering if you were his wife as he's in Hospital from a shooting."
Emma's legs gave way, she fell to the floor with shock.
"Are you alright! Are you alright Emma?"
Emma's on the floor, sitting there in shock her hands shaking tears rolling down her cheeks, she starts to cry thinking the worst has happened, she had dropped the phone when the sergeant told her the news.
She starts looking for the phone, picks it up and can hear the sergeant shouting.
"Are you alright Emma?"
She pulls herself together and says.
"Yes I'm alright you gave me a shock though. How is he! Is he alright?"
"We can't say Emma, all we know is he's in a coma and keeps calling your name."
Emma started to cry and blurted out, "What hospital is he in, I must see him!"
"It's the 'Elms lane' hospital EC2, I can pick you up if you like!"
"No that's alright, I must go now."
She started to cry. she's sobbing her heart out as she's running out to the car, she drives away hastily and nearly has an accident, she stops the car to regain her posture and remembers what Dean said.
"Drive carefully I'd rather you be late even if it's an hour."
She pulls herself together wipes her eyes and heads of for the hospital, driving a lot slower and careful.
Then she remembers the children were at school and had to be picked up. She pulls over and rings a friend to ask her if she would pick them up.
"Of cause I will, anything wrong Emma you sound frightened."
"No!"
She has to tell a little white lie.
Something came up at work and I'll be working a couple more hours, would you look after them till I get there."
"Of cause I will don't worry about a thing Emma."
"Thank you so much, I'll see you later then."
As she's driving she's remembering what sergeant West said, Dean's in a coma, she starts to think will he remember me when he comes out of the coma, she has to pull over because she's crying so much she can't see through the tears, she sits in her car sobbing her heart out, after a while, she wipes her eyes checks her make-up in the mirror and heads for the hospital and arrives safely.
She rushes in and asks for, "Dean Paxton he was in a shooting accident, I'm Emma." She said despondently.
"Ah yes room 10 down the corridor on the right."
Said the nurse.
Emma rushes down the corridor and burst in the room.
"I'm Emma how is he? Is he alright?" As she's walking over to him, takes one look at him all bandaged up, the whole works, she just burst out crying, she gently puts her arms around him, kisses his brow and whispers,
"It's Emma darling please don't die, I love you so much, my darling; I know what you're doing darling! Your relaxing and thinking of me like we said."
Whispering it desperately in his ear.
Still hugging him she kisses him on the lips with all the love and emotion she could muster up.
Sergeant West walks in, and has a word with his constable.
"Hi I'm sergeant West you must be Emma could I have a word with you in the corridor please."
"Yes!

Luck.
Fate.
Destiny.
These are topics I wrote into my novel. They are exciting; they incite adventure.
