AuthorHouse UK Author Joseph JP Lawlor was born in Birmingham in April of the year 1963, he was the product of Irish immigrant parents,  the last person one would expect to pen a manuscript, but instilled within him from his early days was a love for the written word.Taken back to Ireland to the City of Cork at a  young age, he lived there being raised by his Grandmother and was educated at Churchfield School until he left at the age of fifteen to start work. Further education was pleaded for by his schoolteachers but the pressing financial situation found precedence, and so the young Joseph Lawlor entered into the  world of work.
Later he emigrated to England and settled, working at first and then set up in business, some years later he went on to study arts and humanities and then law. In the late eighties he had by then married and had his first daughter Kaine, unfortunately she though, at the age of eighteen months sadly died from a meningitis related problem, this is her story. The opening paragraphs of the book written by her father say it all. riveting and compelling the author takes you on a journey only he alone is qualified to do, his sense of passion and humour never fail in this deeply moving account of love and triumph over adversity, written with a delicate balance of emotion that captivates the reader between tears and smiles, the author proves that this is a story that had to be told. Overall  the book shows the deep love a father had for his child, and no matter how much time has passed shows he never could forget.

Thief of Hearts is a book that has been a long time in the making, the opening lines were first penned in 2001, but due to the emotional content the author felt he couldn't complete the story. in 2009 he sat down and did just that. six months of writing unveils a story that is simply breathtaking!
In the late nineties it was revealed almost matter of factly by an expert medical witness in the Bristol Royal Infirmiry enquiry that the NHS were harvesting vast amounts of childrens hearts and other organs for research without permission. this is Kaine's story, she was a victim of this practice, written by her father this compelling story of love and tenderness will once and for all show the indominitable sturdyness of the human spirit will triumph over anything!

Thursday morning started cold and damp.  Early March in South Carolina can be unpredictable but at least you don’t have to shovel your car out of 3 feet of snow to go to work.  I briskly walked the five blocks to work with my hands in my pockets and my shoulders shrugged to try to keep my ears warm.  I should have worn a hat but I haven’t unpacked that box yet.  When the sun finally tried to rise it only made the sky slightly lighter than the dark.  The drizzle began about 8:00. 

          At 8:30 I felt the man’s emotions entering the coffee shop.  He shook off his umbrella and came to the register to place his order.  He had gorgeous brown curls that were just on the brink of unruly and needing a trim.  He looked at Trish to place his order and his eyes were an amazing caramel color.  It was obvious from the circles under those eyes that he hadn’t slept well for many nights.

          As he stood waiting for his coffee I gave him what I hoped was a friendly smile.  He politely smiled back.  “Lovely weather we’re having” I tried to start up a conversation with him.  He was very preoccupied with his own thoughts.  I couldn’t let him leave today without a connection.

          “Are you a male super model,” I tried again with a huge grin on my face.  “I can picture you in a lime green Speedo posing on a sandy beach.”  That got his attention.  Had I gone too far in trying to get his attention?  Maybe I should have tried something more subtle like flashing my breasts at him.  He stared at me for what felt like minutes but was probably only seconds.  Then he started to laugh.  It was a beautiful sound and I felt his emotions lighten just a little.

          “No I’m not, Liz, but I play one on TV,” he joked back at me in a slight southern accent.  He was gorgeous and had a sense of humor. 

          “How do you know my name?  Have we met before?” I asked.  I was sure I would have remembered meeting him.

          “Your name tag,” he answered and gave another small laugh.  Great I thought now he thinks I’m an idiot.

          “Are you free tonight for dinner?” I jumped in feet first.

          “I’m sorry,” he replied, “I have to work.  There is a concert tonight at the art museum.”

          “Oh, are you a musician?”

          “No, I am an assistant director at the Columbia Museum of Art.”

          “I’ve been meaning to go visit the art museum.  I hear it’s quite nice.”

          “You’ve never been there?”

          “No, but in my defense I only moved to Columbia a couple of months ago.”

Carla who is actually 38 today was born in Nottingham, lived in Wales from the age of 10 and now lives in the North West with her husband and 2 children. She trained as a Nurse in 1999 and gained her Nursing Diploma in 2002. She then went on to graduate with a Nursing degree in 2007. 

As said, this is Carla’s first book and she felt compelled to write the story of her traumatic experiences with Children’s Services and social workers over a two year time-frame, subsequent to a custody battle for her husband’s two children. She trusts that readers will become aware of the minefield that Children’s Services can be and they will understand their rights when have to deal with them. 

Without any real writing experience, Carla drew on the influence of books she has read, such as autobiographies. Ones she has read most recently are David Walliams and Dynamo, plus nursing autobiographies such as Evelyn Prentis and Anne Watts previously. You may have a great story but if your book is full of errors it will put readers off’.
