AuthorHouse UK Reviews
AuthorHouse UK Author | Slater Kworrie
AuthorHouse UK Author Slater Kworrie, almost thirty years ago the author of this book was made redundant from his work as a Textile Technician after a mere eighteen years in the trade. Not only had his job gone but virtually the entire industry had disappeared and he had to do something to fill those empty monotonous days of despair. Writing for a living had never been on his life's agenda though he always enjoyed writing as a form of stimulation and pleasure and had written several small pieces for a local newspaper and short magazines full of anecdotes and jokes for charity fund raising events. 'Behind the Fuse Box' was his first brief ten page story written in that dark period of unemployment and was submitted to television and film studios as a possible fantasy drama piece. He had the honour of being turned down by Alan Parker at Columbia Studios who found it interesting but not suitable for their current schedules which was the same reply he received from all the other leisure companies he approached and funnily enough from every company he applied to for employment. It languished along with other collective pieces from that time, in the bottom draw of a cupboard for some twenty five years and was never touched until he decided to compile a Short Story book as a Christmas present for his Granddaughter Jaid in 2010. Along with Limericks and amusing Ditty's, Behind the Fuse Box was resurrected and re-written into a longer story and retitled 'The Cellar' which he considers his first interesting attempt at a story with a twist. Two more stories were added, re- written and expanded into their present form in this book. All three are considered to be an easy read and retain that nice little twist which he hopes you will all enjoy.  Read More
